Isaiah 48

“Hear this, house of Jacob,

for they call themselves citizens of the holy city,

I have declared the former things from of old.

Because I knew that you are obstinate,

therefore I have declared it to you from of old;

You have heard it.

They are created now, and not from of old.

Yes, you didn’t hear.

For my name’s sake, I will defer my anger,

Behold, I have refined you,

For my own sake,

“Listen to me, O Jacob,

Yes, my hand has laid the foundation of the earth,

“Assemble yourselves, all of you, and hear!

I, even I, have spoken.

“Come near to me and hear this:

Yahweh,

Oh that you had listened to my commandments!

Your offspring also would have been as the sand

Leave Babylon!

They didn’t thirst when he led them through the deserts.

“There is no peace”, says Yahweh, “for the wicked.”
