Job 17

“My spirit is consumed.

Surely there are mockers with me.

“Now give a pledge. Be collateral for me with yourself.

For you have hidden their heart from understanding,

He who denounces his friends for plunder,

“But he has made me a byword of the people.

My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow.

Upright men will be astonished at this.

Yet the righteous will hold to his way.

But as for you all, come back.

My days are past.

They change the night into day,

if I have said to corruption, ‘You are my father,’

where then is my hope?
